- : John,
- :
- : Have you tested your ram for problems in it? Is the ram too slow? Do you have
- : the jumpers all set correctly?
- :
- : EG, I have 9 megs ram, 1 meg is chip, 4 megs are 16 bit fast and 4 megs are
- : 32 bit fast on my A2630. The 4 megs on the GVP SCSI interface are jumpered to
- : show ONLY 4 megs. The rest of the ram autoconfigs for use. If your jumper
- : settings are setup to include ALL your ram, that is wrong in a situation like
- : mine.
- :
- : Lastly, a friend of mine had a 4000 with an older A2008 GVP interface. He put
- : 32 bit ram, totally, into his system and took out the 16 bit ram and his
- : machine started having the probs you are having. He put 2 megs of 16 bit back
- : on the A2008 and it worked fine, then. As you are using a 2091, this might
- : ALSO be your problem - it NEEDS some 16 bit ram.
- :
- No. The problems are simply an incorrect DMAmask value. Not all of the memory
- is accessible for DMA, so the DMA mask must be set to indicate what memory
- is usable.
